While Air, Earth, and Water were content to watch and laugh at the foolishness of man, their sister, Fire, was becoming very ill at ease.

Over the countless years of watching man, Fire had become jealous of humans and of all the things that they had been able to create that would bring them so much pleasure in life. She had decided that she would no longer sit back and watch these
inferior beings have everything that she could not.
Knowing that she could not change her fate without her sisters, as they were ultimately linked by creation, she began to spread her venom in their hearts. She preached on the selfishness and greed of man, while telling her sisters that it was crule that they could not partake of earthly pleasures. They would be thankful. They would do much more than man ever could. THEY should be equal to man!

No other sister agreed with Fire more than Earth did; she had seen how careless the humans were with nature and longed to grow things not by her magic by with only the nurturing of her own two hands. She began quickly gathering all of the rare items she would need to brew a potion for she and her sisters to become human. It was a forbidden concoction, but soon she would not be bound the rules of nature any longer... Might as well start the fun a little early - Earth thought, while she mixed the ingredients together.

The four sisters drank deep of the potion. All the while, Fire could not help but to imagine each sweet taste of human pleasure that she would now be able to have for herself... However, the greedy elemental was soon to find out that it wasn't so easy to be human...

END OF PROLOGUE
Once upon a time...

...there existed four immortal sisters born under the powers of the earthly elements: Water, Earth, Air, and Fire. Often, they would gaze upon the beauty of the world and watch the interesting creatures called Man. Because of their birth, they were able to walk among humans unseen; however, as freeing as it made for them to watch the happenings of humans, it also prevented them from truly being a part of the world that they so eagerly watched.

Welcome to the prologue. This section does not follow any of the rules set for the challenge; it is simply meant to explain the story behind the challenge.      :)
